Multicultural Day
The Diversity in Action Project, which is housed through the Northern Women's Centre at UNBC, hosted a Multicultural Day on Thursday, February 26, 2009. The event ran from 4:00pm until 8:00pm in the Winter Garden and showcased a variety of cultural and ethnic performers and vendors. The partnering theme was "Breads around the World" with a food and cookbook display on site, illustrating how bread is such a staple and yet runs a common theme in many cultures.
The goal of this event was to celebrate the diversity of the cultures in our community. Staff, students, and faculty of UNBC and also the community of Prince George, were invited to participate either as performers, vendors or attendees. The event was free and open to the public.
"This event is intended not only to celebrate the many cultures represented on campus and in the community, but to lift our spirits and unite us in our diversity."
